Ella Salgado, of Meriden in New Haven County, was killed in the three-car crash on the Berlin Parkway just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, police said.
Several people in one of the vehicles were ejected when their vehicle rolled over. Multiple people in the car Ella was riding in were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police did not release an update on their conditions.
Ella was taken to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her life.
There were three children and two adults in the car with Ella. They were all properly fastened into the vehicles, NBC Connecticut quoted police.
Ella's father, Mark Salgado, created a GoFundMe to help raise money for her funeral, a financial burden he said he was not prepared to take on much less while grieving the loss of a child.
I am in disbelief that I am making this page right now asking for help for a funeral. My Beautiful Daughter Ella Salgado, was involved in a Horrible accident today on the Berlin Turnpike in Connecticut where she unfortunately Loss her life and at this time we are not financially able to afford the cost of the funeral. We are devastated our other children were hurt as well and would greatly appreciate any help that is provided at this most difficult time. Thank you all.
The campaign has raised nearly $11,000, $1,000 more than its original goal.

The crash remains under investigation. Police told NBC that speed may have played a factor in the crash, but detectives are also checking if a medical issue could have contributed.
